About this Legal Notice

This Legal Notice sets out important disclaimers, limitations, and risk information that apply to the website at simplesciencesupplements.com (the “site”), to the products we sell, and to any information published or shared by us in connection with them. It applies to all visitors to the site and to all customers of Simple Science Supplements Ltd (“Simple Science”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By using the site or buying our products you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Legal Notice. It should be read together with our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Returns Policy, Shipping Policy, Subscription Policy, and Billing Terms and Conditions.

Information only — not medical advice

The content on the site, including product descriptions, ingredient information, blog posts, infographics, customer support replies, and any reference to scientific research, is provided for general information and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, is not a substitute for the advice of a qualified healthcare professional, and must not be relied on as the basis for any decision about your health, treatment, medication, or lifestyle.

If you have any questions about your health, an existing medical condition, the suitability of a supplement for you, or possible interactions with medication, please speak to a qualified healthcare professional — for example, your GP, a registered pharmacist, a registered dietitian, or a registered nutritionist — before purchasing or taking any product from us.

We are not a clinical practice. We do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or provide individualised medical, nutritional, or pharmaceutical advice through any channel — including email, phone, social media, or live chat. Replies from our customer support team are limited to product information, order administration, and general guidance, and should never be treated as medical advice.

We do not make health claims

We do not claim that any of our products will cure, treat, prevent, mitigate, or diagnose any disease, condition, or symptom. Where the law permits an authorised health claim about a specific nutrient — for example, “vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system” under retained EU Regulation 1924/2006 on nutrition and health claims made on foods (the “EU register of authorised health claims”) — we use only that authorised wording, applied only to products that contain the legal minimum quantity of the relevant nutrient.

Anything we say about a product, an ingredient, or general nutrition that is not an authorised health claim is general information only and is not a representation, warranty, or guarantee of any health outcome.

Possible effects, not guarantees

Where the site, our marketing materials, our packaging, our emails, or any other communication describes an effect, benefit, response, or outcome that a supplement, ingredient, or routine may have, we are describing a possible effect, not a guarantee. Words such as “may”, “can”, “supports”, “helps with”, “promotes”, and similar should always be read as descriptive of a possibility supported by general nutritional or scientific understanding, not as a promise of any specific result for any specific person.

Individual responses to supplements vary widely depending on age, sex, body composition, diet, lifestyle, baseline nutrient status, gut absorption, medication, genetic factors, and many other variables that we have no way of accounting for in advance. We make no promise that you, personally, will experience any particular effect from any particular product.

Use at your own risk

You take full responsibility for your decision to buy and consume any product we sell. Use of our products is at your own risk. By purchasing and using a product you accept that:

  • The product is a food supplement intended to complement a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, and is not a substitute for either.
  • You are responsible for deciding whether the product is suitable for you, taking into account your own circumstances, your medical history, any medication you are taking, and any advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
  • You are responsible for following the product’s directions for use, dosage, and storage instructions printed on the label.
  • We are not responsible for any adverse effect, allergic reaction, interaction, intolerance, or other consequence arising from your use of a product where you have not followed the directions on the label, where you have not disclosed a relevant medical condition or medication to your healthcare professional before use, or where you have used the product in a way it is not intended.

People who should take extra care

You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before taking any product from us if any of the following apply to you:

  • You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • You are under 18 years of age. (Our products are intended for adults.)
  • You take prescription or over-the-counter medication.
  • You have an existing medical condition (including but not limited to diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid conditions, autoimmune conditions, cardiovascular conditions, gastrointestinal conditions, mental health conditions, or any condition affecting hormones).
  • You are about to undergo, or have recently undergone, surgery.
  • You have a known allergy or intolerance to any ingredient on the product label.
  • You have any other reason to believe a supplement could interact with your health or medication.

Allergies, ingredients, and intolerances

Our products contain only the ingredients listed on the product label and on the corresponding product page on the site. Always read the label and the full ingredient list before taking any product, and do not take a product that contains an ingredient you are allergic, intolerant, or sensitive to.

Some products may be manufactured in facilities that handle common allergens (such as nuts, dairy, soy, gluten, sesame, eggs, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, celery, mustard, lupin, sulphites, and peanuts), even when those allergens are not present in the formulation. If you have a serious allergy, please contact us at help@simplesciencesupplements.com before purchasing so we can confirm whether a specific product is appropriate for you.

Ingredient lists, allergen statements, and nutritional values on the label take precedence over any description on the site if the two ever differ.

Adverse reactions and what to do

If you experience an adverse reaction, allergic reaction, intolerance, or any other unwanted effect after taking one of our products:

  1. Stop taking the product immediately.
  2. Seek medical advice. Call NHS 111 in the UK for non-emergency advice, your GP for ongoing care, or 999 for emergencies including signs of a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, severe rash, or sudden severe symptoms.
  3. Let us know. Contact us at help@simplesciencesupplements.com so we can support you, log the report, and consider whether action is required at our end. You can also report adverse reactions caused by food supplements to your local Trading Standards office or to the Food Standards Agency at food.gov.uk.

Reporting a reaction to us does not affect any rights you may have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in respect of products that turn out to be defective, contaminated, or not as described — see our Returns Policy.

Read the label and follow the directions

Always read the product label, including the directions for use, recommended daily dose, age restrictions, and any specific warnings, before taking the product. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. More is not better — exceeding the recommended dose of a vitamin, mineral, or other supplement can be harmful.

Do not take a product after its “best before” or expiry date. Do not take a product whose seal is broken or whose packaging shows signs of tampering — please contact us instead.

Storage and child safety

Store all products as directed on the label. Most of our products should be kept in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, with the cap firmly closed; some require refrigeration after opening. Improper storage can reduce a product’s effectiveness or cause it to spoil.

Keep all supplements out of the sight and reach of children. Even ingredients that are well-tolerated by adults can be harmful to children at adult doses.

Testimonials, reviews, and individual results

Where we publish customer testimonials, reviews, before-and-after stories, case studies, or “results in [X] weeks” examples, those reflect the experience of the individual customer who provided them. They are not typical results, are not predictive of any other customer’s experience, and should not be read as a representation that you will experience the same.

We may, with the customer’s consent, edit testimonials for length, clarity, or to redact personal information, but we do not change the substance of what was said. We do not pay customers for reviews or testimonials, and we do not artificially generate them.

Scientific research and citations

Where we cite scientific research — peer-reviewed studies, meta-analyses, regulatory authority opinions, or other published evidence — we do so to give general context for an ingredient’s suggested role in the body or in the diet. The cited research applies to the population studied under the conditions studied, and does not guarantee that an individual taking our product will experience the same outcomes. Sample sizes, dosing, study duration, and population characteristics in cited studies often differ from real-world supplement use.

We are not affiliated with the authors of cited studies and do not represent their conclusions as our own except in the limited respect for which they are cited. Where the science is contested or evolving, we will say so.

Product images, descriptions, and packaging

We make every reasonable effort to display product images, colours, and packaging accurately, and to keep product descriptions, ingredient lists, and nutritional information up to date. However:

  • The colours displayed on your screen may differ slightly from the actual product because of differences between displays.
  • Product packaging may change from time to time (for example, a label redesign or a switch to a more recyclable material) without prior notice. The product inside is the same unless we have explicitly said otherwise.
  • The label printed on the bottle in front of you is the definitive source for ingredients, allergen statements, dosage, and warnings, and takes precedence over any description on the site if the two ever differ.

Errors, inaccuracies, and changes to the site

The site may, from time to time, contain typographical errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or out-of-date information relating to product descriptions, pricing, promotions, offers, availability, or shipping details. We reserve the right to correct any error, inaccuracy, or omission, and to change or update information or cancel orders at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order). We may add, change, withdraw, or discontinue products, services, content, or features on the site at any time, and we are under no obligation to update any information on the site.

Third-party links and content

The site may contain links to third-party websites, third-party tools, or third-party content (for example, citation links to scientific journals, links to regulatory bodies, links to a payment provider, or embedded social media content). We do not control those third parties, do not monitor their content, and are not responsible for their practices, terms, products, services, or accuracy. Inclusion of a link is not an endorsement.

Your use of any third-party website or service is governed by that third party’s own terms and privacy notices, which we recommend you read.

UK market only

Our products are formulated, labelled, and sold for the UK market and we ship within the United Kingdom only. We make no representation that our products are appropriate, lawful, or available for use, sale, or consumption in any other jurisdiction. If you access the site from outside the UK, you do so at your own initiative and you are responsible for compliance with any local law that applies to you.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in this Legal Notice limits or excludes our liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • a breach of the terms implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 or sections 9 to 11 and 13 to 18 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015; or
  • any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any loss, damage, illness, allergic reaction, intolerance, interaction, adverse effect, or other consequence arising from your use of a product where you have not followed the product’s directions for use, dosage, allergen warning, or storage instructions, or where you have not consulted a qualified healthcare professional before use as recommended in this Legal Notice.
  • We are not liable for any decision you make based on information published on the site, in our marketing communications, or in any reply from our customer support team, where that information is general in nature and you have used it as the sole basis for a health, medical, or treatment decision instead of consulting a qualified healthcare professional.
  • We are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity (those are not losses you would normally incur as a consumer).
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable at the time you placed your order or accessed the relevant content.
  • Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with any single order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

This section does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in this Legal Notice affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Where you are entitled to a refund, repair, replacement, or remedy by law, this Legal Notice does not take that away.

Changes to this Legal Notice

We may update this Legal Notice from time to time to reflect changes in the products we sell, the law, our practices, our service providers, or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. The version of this Legal Notice in force when you placed an order or accessed the relevant content applies to that order or content.

Governing law and jurisdiction

This Legal Notice and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction.
